analog chorus
$115 - $125 painted

Picture
Rediscover the joy of chorus again with this kit. The BYOC Analog Chorus is a true-bypassed clone of the version of the BOSS CE-2. It uses an NOS BBD chip for that warm vintage analog chorus tone. The status LED blinks in time with the rate.

Analog Vibrato
$140 - $150 painted

Picture
The BOSS VB-2 is the king of all vibratos. With its perfect sine wave LFO (low frequency oscillator), warm MN3207 bucket brigade delay analog vibrato, and depth ramp feature, nothing else sounds like it. The BYOC Analog Vibrato flawlessly recreates the original circuit. But we've made a huge improvement by adding a designated bypass switch and ramp switch. The original VB-2 and the new VB-2w are not true bypass. Not even when you have it in "bypass" mode. The BYOC Analog Vibrato is true bypass. And it's a lot less confusing than the original bypass/ramp system. It's either on or off, and it's either in ramp mode or not in ramp mode.

Analog Bass Chorus

The BYOC Bass Chorus kit is a warm, lush, analog chorus designed for bass guitar. It uses the MN3207 bucket brigade delay chip to deliver its vintage chorus tones. We placed the jacks on the side to keep the signal path as short and direct as possible. The audio signal never crosses over any part of the clock driver or LFO circuit to insure that your signal doesn't pick up any high pitch noise or odd thumps that beat in time with the rate knob. The active dry signal is completely transparent with your bypass signal. The passive cross-fader blend knob allows you to dial in the perfect wet-to-dry ratio.

Classic Phaser
$95 - $105 painted

Picture
A straight-forward clone of the original six-single-op-amp script logo Phase90. Matched quad of NOS Fairchild 2N5952 JFETs and UA741 op-amps just like the very first Phase90 produced in the late 70's. Higher quality metal film resistors and film capacitors for all of the tone, but less noise.

The Li'l Analog Chorus is a MN3007 based chorus.

Li'l orange phaser

This is a clone of the Script Logo era Phase90, only it's about half the size. No, we weren't able to fit 6 single op amps in there. We were able to use 3 dual op amps though, which sound just as good, along with a quad of NOS 2N5952 JFETs.

mega chorus & Vibrato
$130

The Mega Chorus and Vibrato is the ultimate tricked out, uber-modded analog pitch modulation machine. Rate, Depth, Tone, Delay, Blend, and Shape knobs along with a Triangle/Sine wave switch allow you to dial in just about any sound you can think of. Hopefully we don't need to explain what the rate, depth, and tone knobs do. The delay knob controls just that. The delay controls how washed out the the vibrato sounds. Turning it down will give you a tighter more subtle vibrato/chorus sound. Turning it up will increase the pitch bending and can take it into crazy alien-speak noise making territory. The blend knob controls the mix of the wet and dry signal. Full turn counter clockwise is 100% unaffected dry signal. Noon is the traditional 50/50 chorus setting. Turn it full-turn clockwise for pure vibrato. The shape knob can turn the Triangle LFO wave from ramp to saw tooth and all points in between. It controls the duty cycle when in sine wave mode allowing you to create cool tape warble effects or set it dead center for a vibrato exactly like the VB-2. Another way to explain what the shape knob does is this: turning it clockwise will make it bend the pitch up slower and bend the pitch down faster. Turning it counter clockwise will make it bend the pitch down faster and bend the pitch up slower. Setting it at noon will make the pitch bend up and down at an even rate. The Triangle/Sine wave switch changes the wave form of the LFO (low frequency oscillator) between....you guessed it....triangle and sine waves. Triangle is the traditional "chorus" wave form. Sine is generally considered better for vibrato. The BYOC Mega Chorus & Vibrato gives you both.

Phase Royal

The BYOC Phase Royal is a true modular phaser. The part of the circuit where the actual phase shifting occurs is on its own separate module board, meaning you can change out the module to create completely different styles of phasing.

Soaring Skillet
$200

Picture

The Ibanez FP-777 Flying Pan is one of the coolest, tripped out, guitar effects ever. In addition to having stereo panning, it also has one of the best sounding phasers ever produced. It has knobs for phase rate, phase feedback, and pan rate. It has a phaser on/off footswitch and a panning on/off footswitch. It can do just phasing, just panning, or both phasing and panning together. It also has a 3-way rotary switch that allows the phasing to be heard through the right output, the left output, or both (stereo). The original version of the FP-777 Flying Pan costs a ridiculous amount of money. Even the reissues (which there were only 777 made) cost a lot, and they aren't even the same as the originals. The originals used optocouplers in the phase shifting circuit which were absolutely key to they pedal's unique tone. The reissues used JFETs instead of optocouplers and they sound more like a Phase90 than a Flying Pan. We could not locate a good source of the original HVT Optocouplers that were used in the original Flying Pan, so we had our own hermetically sealed custom optocouplers made just for our Soaring Skillet kit. The BYOC Soaring Skillet is 100% identical to the original Ibanez FP-777 Flying Pan. We used the same dual-element optocouplers and TL022 dual op amps. We even kept all the switching/routing exactly the same.

Stereo Analog Flanger
$190

The BYOC Stereo Analog Flanger isn't exactly a clone of anything in particular. We took the best qualities from several different flanger circuits and combined them to create what we thought was not only one of the best flangers ever, but also a flanger that could be easily modified to dial it in the way you want to. The BYOC Flanger does not use the legendary SAD1024 delay chip, but we designed it to capture the tone of the great flangers that did use that chip. What was unique about that chip was that it is actually two separate 512 stage delay lines on a single chip. Some flangers like the MXR, put both delay lines in series for a longer delay time and more exaggerated pitch bending. Some flangers, like the ADA and Electric Mistress kept the two delay lines separate and ran them parallel, but out of phase with each other, to create a more lush sound. The BYOC Flanger has two 1024 delay chips. When in NORMAL mode, only one delay chip is used. The Manual/Delay Time knob allows you to dial in tones that are similar to the MXR, BF-2, and Pearl flangers. When in DIFFERENTIAL mode, the second delay chip is added in parallel, but out of phase with the first delay chip. Turn the Manual/Delay Time knob down and you can dial in the tone of the ADA and Electric Mistress. Turn up the delay time, and you create new, amazingly lush flanger tones.

Tremolito

This kit is based on the EA (Electronics Australia) Tremolo. It's a great vintage sounding trem like you would find on an old Blackface Fender Amp. The amplitude modulation is done with transistors, so unlike most opto-coupler based trems, you don't get an "on/off" sound on slower speed settings and there is much less current draw. Features all through-hole components, and full-sized panel mounted hardware.

The tremolo has become one of b.y.o.c.'s most popular kits through word of mouth. And with good reason....the difficulty of the build is low, it's simple to use, and it just sounds good.
