855 Drive
$110

Do you wish the Tubescreamer had more gain, less mids, and more low end? If so, you will love the BYOC 855 Drive. The Ibanez & Maxon OD-855 is a close cousin of the Ibanez TS808. While the circuits are very similar, the OD855 is more than just a modified Tubescreamer. The BYOC 855 Drive kit is almost spot on to the original. We use the 4558D chip, 1N60 germanium clipping diodes, and tantalum caps in all the same places as the original. The only difference between the BYOC 855 Drive and the original OD855 is that we got rid of the FET bypass circuit and replaced it with true mechanical bypass, and we replaced the 1uf electrolytic caps in the signal path with higher quality film caps. The originals are selling for insane amounts of money now. Here's your chance to try out this other legendary Ibanez effect for a fraction of the cost.

The Crown Jewel from Build Your Own Clone is the ultimate drive and boost combo. It is not a clone of anything. It is an amalgamation of the best qualities from many different circuits to create something entirely new that is capable of producing a range of overdrive and distortion tones like no other analog pedal has before.

Chancellor

Based on the Marshall Guv'nor, the BYOC Chancellor kit is another true-bypassed version of one of the designs from Marshall's fantastic early big box era series pedals. The Shredmaster was a full on distortion. The Blues Breaker was a quintessential overdrive. The Chancellor lies somewhere in between. The best word to describe this pedal is crunchy. It's like having a cranked JCM800 full stack in a box. The BYOC Chancellor is true to the original circuit, but with true bypass, higher quality components, and half the size.

El distorto segundo

A clone of the MXR Distortion II. We took a few liberties, like removing the part of the circuit that handles the bypass and made it true mechanical bypass, giving it asymmetrical clipping as a stock feature (of course you can just leave out the extra clipping diodes if you want), adding a toggle switch to switch between standard clipping and LED clipping which gives it a crunchier tone, and doing away with the noisy internal power transformer and allowing for a 9V battery or standard guitar effects power supply (9 ~ 18VDC). But aside from that, it's true to the original. This is a little-known and somewhat rare effect. Although it's not fetching huge vintage prices yet, we decided to make a clone of it because it is such a unique and interesting distortion. There really isn't any other circuit like this. It actually has two completely different distortion/overdrive circuits. The "resonance" knob blends the second circuit into the mix.

Mouse
$105

The BYOC Mouse is a modified version of the original Proco RAT. It has level, distortion, and filter knobs just like the original, and a 4th presence knob. This is a popular mod for the RAT circuit. It is ofter referred to as the "Ruetz mod". It also has a 3-way clipping switch. It has silicon clipping, like the original RAT, LED clipping like the Turbo RAT, and Germanium clipping for an even more saturated fuzzy RAT sound. Comes with an NOS LM308 chip just like the original for that vintage RAT tone.

$90 - $95 painted

An exact replica of the iconic ProCo Rat. Comes with an N.O.S. LM308 opamp. Metal film resistors and metallized polyester film capacitors deliver spot on vintage tone and at only a fraction of the original size. Despite its small size, the Li'l Mouse uses all through-hole components and panel mounted hardware. True bypass.

Orange Distortion
$105

The Orange Distortion is a clone of the original Boss DS-1 Distortion, nothing like the horrible cheap reissues available today. The Orange Distortion uses the same Toshiba TA7136P chip that was in the original, not available for more than 20 years. Playing the Orange Distortion makes you realize why the vintage DS-1 is a legendary pedal and loved by guitar heroes such as Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Built to the same specs as the original with addition of a PreGain control for further control of the gain structure. The Orange Distortion delivers the same tone as the original DS-1 with more tonal flexibility.

Sometimes there's a thin line between what's an overdrive, what's a fuzz, and what's a distortion. The Marshall Shredmaster is definitely a full on 80's heavy metal distortion. But it also has the dynamics to pull off a very nice overdrive tone as well. The BYOC Shredder kit packs all the tone of the original pedal with volume, gain, bass, treble, and contour knobs into a box that is half the size of the original... and with true bypass. It's voiced to turn even a 6 watt open back combo with an 8" speaker into wall of Marshall full stacks. It's like having a JCM series in a box. Rock on!

Swede

This is a proper Boss HM-2 clone. If you haven't heard of the HM-2, you should. This pedal is gritty, brutal, rude, and has that unmistakeable buzzsaw sound many metal heads love. This pedal has the original M5218L chips as found in the Japanese version, true-bypass switching, and enough salt to strip your neighbors paint. Available with the unpainted enclosure, or with black powder coat and orange screen print.
